Should regions that cannot contribute to a game's revenue intake.

Be blocked from accessing the game? It starts to make sense to me why many foreign MMOs such as in Thailand and Korean only allow people from within those regions to play their game.

I think most games block foreign players simply because of the lag. A good example of this is Lost Saga where the lag is so relevant that the players you would attack say from Brazil would just freeze up and you would miss or it would look like they weren't taking damage. Or even in WindSlayer2 where people from the Philiphines could glitch. I'm not really big on foreign players playing on NA servers really for that reason. The lag might be unnoticeable but it's still there. And if they are playing against someone from their own country it might not show itself on a North American server but it hurts the locals. I like the idea of using a national id to register, but when you see sites like Nexon and Sony databases getting hacked I could do without it.

What do you think about Korean MMOs requiring a KSSN and phone number to register an account? Would American/Canadian players be willing to register using theirs? It's really the only way to assure outsiders won't get in.
